As part of this project, we were required to select a critical text and develop personal responses. I chose - "Harvesting Misunderstanding: Every misunderstanding implies there is also an understanding, but what if understanding is only an illusion" by Tina Mantarro. From the text, I took the approach of looking at how language and colour is misunderstood. I explored different languages, text illegibility, colourblind effects and how people interpret colour. I decided to focus on illegibility of text. I believed that many people misunderstand text/words because it is difficult to read, or they have misread it. I created extreme versions of this idea, developing different posters that explore illegibility of text. Each has different qualities to how they would be read. I wonder how many you can read/understand? This module resulted in an exhibition (which you can find in my experience section). I made mock-ups for a physical and virtual exhibition due to the coronavirus pandemic. Ultimately, the show was held as a virtual event and I was the social media coordinator.
